Active Compassion is an integrative martial art that utilizes the art of non-resistance to de-escalate confrontation and promote healthy living. Through training in high-efficiency physical techniques and accessible methods for stabilizing the mind, students build confidence in their self-defense abilities while being empowered to benefit others.

Active Compassion distills core concepts from several martial arts, including Jujutsu, Aikido, Karate, traditional Japanese weapon arts, and others. It offers students and organizations the ability to enhance their existing training with efficient and effective technical principles that are applicable across a diversity of self-defense scenarios.

Who We Are
M. S. Farzan has been a student of martial arts for over 25 years, and has taught martial arts and self-defense throughout the Bay Area since 2007. He holds an 8th-degree black belt in Japanese Jujutsu, as well as black belt ranks in Ninjutsu, Battojutsu, and Aikido. He also has a Ph.D. in Cultural and Historical Studies of Religions and is a novelist and game designer.
